Regents Park sits on the western side of the 4118 group, a settled residential suburb of family houses where the backyard pool was a normal part of the brief. The suburbs around here share a pattern: houses built for families, pools built with them, and interiors now well into or past the band where a quality finish starts giving up. Going on build era rather than any dataset, many of the pools here are on their original surface or their first replacement, which is the point at which an owner starts noticing it underfoot.

We connect you with experienced, insured local pool renovators who work Regents Park and will tell you straight which jobs are due now and which can wait a season.

What a worn interior actually feels like

Owners usually describe the same things. The floor is rough under bare feet. Pebbles turn up in the skimmer basket or collect in the deep end. Stains return within a fortnight of every treatment, especially in corners and around steps. Sometimes there are rust spots or faint crack lines showing through. None of that is a chemistry problem and no amount of dosing fixes it. It is a finish at the end of its life, and the answer is resurfacing in pebble, quartz or a fibreglass lining where the shell has movement cracks worth bridging.

Do the empty-pool jobs together

The single biggest saving on a Regents Park renovation is sequencing. Draining, site setup and curing time are shared costs, so new waterline tiles and fittings cost far less fitted during a resurface than as their own project a year later. The same applies to the coping: if the stones are loose or lifting, lift them while the pool is empty and the tiler and resurfacer are on site. See tiling and coping. Pool water should be discharged in line with the local water authority's requirements rather than to the street stormwater, so Logan Water is who you confirm the current drain-down rules with.

Paint as the deliberate budget choice

Not everyone wants a resurface, and painting is an honest option on a sound shell. Epoxy gives roughly five to seven years in Australian conditions and chlorinated rubber around three to five, and you generally cannot change systems without stripping back first, so what is on the pool now decides what can go on next. The renovators we work with test before they quote. Across twenty years, several repaints can approach the cost of one pebble finish, so painting wins on upfront cost and resurfacing wins on cost per year. See pool painting for the trade-off in full.

What it costs here

Guide pricing only. Painting a standard family pool commonly lands in the low thousands, a pebble resurface roughly $8,000 to $15,000, premium quartz or glass bead higher again, and a full renovation with interior, tiles, coping and equipment commonly $20,000 to $50,000. The cost guide explains what moves each number. In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 generally requires a QBCC licensed contractor, and pool safety certificates are issued only by a QBCC licensed pool safety inspector, never by the contractor doing the work.

Frequently asked questions

Is fibreglass lining better than pebble?

Neither is better in general. Lining is the stronger choice where the concrete has movement cracks, because it bridges small cracks that would telegraph through a cement-based finish. On a sound shell, pebble or quartz is the usual pick.

Can I resurface and keep the existing waterline tiles?

Sometimes, if they are sound and the colour still works. Be aware that the new interior often makes tired tiles look worse by comparison, which is why most owners do both while the pool is empty.

What does the barrier have to do with a renovation?

Nothing technically, but everything practically if a sale or a new lease is coming. A fresh interior does not help if the fence fails. A non-shared pool certificate runs two years, and a shared pool certificate one year. See fencing and compliance.
