Rochedale South is a Logan suburb, and worth saying plainly because the name confuses people: Rochedale itself sits across the boundary in Brisbane, and 4123 Rochedale South is on this side of it. The housing here is the familiar eastern pattern, brick and tile on comfortable blocks built through the 1980s and into the 1990s, owner-occupied, with enough backyard that a pool was a normal thing to add. Going by the build era rather than any published count, those pools are now deep into renovation territory.
We connect you with experienced, insured local pool renovators who work Rochedale South, from a single waterline retile to a full interior and equipment renewal.
What usually comes due first
On a pool of this age the complaint that gets someone searching is almost always the interior. It feels rough underfoot, it stains no matter how carefully the water is balanced, or it sheds pebbles into the skimmer. All three mean the same thing, which is a finish at the end of its service life rather than a chemistry problem. Resurfacing is the fix, and pebble, quartz and fibreglass lining all have a case depending on the shell underneath.
Second on the list is the waterline band. Decades of wet and dry cycling, sun and calcium leave the original glazed tiles crazed or stuck behind scale that will not shift. Replacing them while the pool is already drained is the cheap version of that job. See tiling and coping.
Pricing a job you cannot see into
Guide pricing only, because the condition of the old surface decides a lot. A pebble resurface on a standard family pool typically runs roughly $8,000 to $15,000 ex GST, with premium quartz and glass bead finishes higher again. The swing inside that range usually comes down to whether the old interior can be prepared and coated over or has to be stripped back to the shell, which nobody can promise from the kerb. That is why the renovators we refer quote after seeing the pool, in writing, with the scope stated. The cost guide breaks the ranges down further.
The equipment nobody budgets for
Owners plan for the interior and get surprised by the pump pad. A single-speed pump from the original build, a chlorinator added later, and a filter sized for neither is a common combination out here, and renovating the interior while leaving that in place is renovating half the pool. Variable-speed pumps are the one upgrade most owners notice on the power bill, and the pad is cheapest to rebuild while the shell is empty and the pipework is exposed. See equipment upgrades. Any electrical work has to be done by a licensed electrician.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rochedale South in Logan or Brisbane?
Rochedale South is in the City of Logan. Rochedale is a separate Brisbane suburb, so the council you deal with for approvals and property questions here is Logan City Council.
Can the old pebblecrete be coated over instead of stripped?
Sometimes. A sound surface can be prepared and coated, a drummy or delaminating one has to come off first. The quote should say which applies, because it is a real difference in labour.
What about leasing a house with a pool?
For a house with its own pool the pool safety certificate has to be in effect before the tenancy agreement is entered into, with no notice alternative. For a shared pool, a Form 36 notice of no pool safety certificate can be lodged instead, and the pool owner, usually the body corporate, then has 90 days to obtain a certificate. The certificate itself is issued only by a pool safety inspector licensed by the QBCC, never by this site and never by the contractor doing the work. Confirm the current rules with the QBCC.
Do you fix leaks or just renovate?
Both are referred. If water loss is the symptom, leak detection comes first and the repair is quoted after the leak is found, not before.
